Charming and friendly
We enjoyed our stay here!
The surroundings were stunning and perfect for hiking!
The pension, although not modern, had charm and character. The bed/bathroom were clean upon arrival and cleaned daily
The staff and owner are very friendly
The breakfast in buffet form was good: veggies, yoghurt, cereal, boiled egg, large variety of cheeses and meat
The terrace of the restaurant looks upon the river, it was very relaxing
Food tasted very good! Desserts and lunch/dinner
Recommended!

Not a good night
We came from a party and were in bed at 3.00am. From 8.15am the maid started waking us up. Half an hour apart, again and again. I know it so that you hand over the key and free up the room. I'm out of here angry at 10:00.

A great experience to see
We were going to Harzen and the hotels we wanted were busy. And so we decided to go to zum Harzer jodlermaster, we had read about the reviews that were about the hotel and they were not too good, but we came down there, to the most cute worst couples who welcomed us, got a nice and clean room, which was made clean every day. The food was super delicious with 3 dishes every day for the evening, breakfast was also quite in the top, drinks were also cheap, you could also get lubricated food package for an extra charge. Shit they got some better pictures from the hotel. We'll be back. It is the best hotel I have been to in Germany and I have been there a lot of times. Then hesitate. And don’t see the bad reviews there are, it matches what we’ve experienced and one last thing is the area it’s located in so beautiful.

Lousy hotel
We rarely complain about our stay, but this time we think it might be appropriate to give feedback.
The employee who received us at check-in was rather brusque and gave us the impression that we were not welcome. The same employee continued to patronize us throughout the stay.
We are not particularly good at German, and it helped that some of the younger employees could communicate in English. But in general, we did not experience much friendliness or goodwill towards our questions or need for information.
We were set on a tourist class hotel, but it was very run down and the atmosphere was almost claustrophobic (perhaps like the GDR before the fall of the wall).
It was quite a special experience to have a fixed seat in the restaurant and have to cross off all the next day's meal wishes on a slightly confusing A4 sheet without quite having the feeling of how much you were "assigned". A small portion of scrambled eggs and/or ham cost extra. The included lunch could not be exchanged for a packed lunch (we were told by the consistently grumpy employee) - so we had to pay for a couple of klapsameen for our walks, even though we didn't eat lunch at the hotel.
And it's been a long time since we've been in a place that wanted to pay to use WiFi and to be able to park one's car in a completely primitive open gravel parking lot.
In addition, the room was only cleaned after two nights.
On the third day, we therefore chose to drop the last overnight stay/lunch/dinner and travel on to a more welcoming place.
The food is advertised as classic East German, but it really wasn't anything to shout about.
Fortunately, the nature in the area is very beautiful and captivating, but that could not compensate for unfriendly treatment and such poor conditions.

Great place, friendly staff
We stayed in the hotel for five days and it was a great place to be. We would recommend to everybody who wants to go to the beautiful Harz. Dinner and breakfast were included and of good quality. The owner even offered an entertainment programme, because he won the title "Jodlmeister" several times. This gives the place a unique and local atmosphere. Location is easy to be reached and near the UNESCO city of Quedlinburg.
