Good experience
The hotel we chose for our 4-day Roman vacation, our suite room is spacious, the hotel is very clean and beautifully tranquil, a small Istanbul Pera Palace. The employees are friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were good, the location is very close to Termini and the view is stunning. Thank you to the Mecenate Palace staff for this experience.

Disappointing stay
I booked this hotel for our group of 7 after a lot of researching as we had a friend with mobility issues and it was important that it was accessible. I contacted the hotel about the steps to the rooftop and was told it was a few small sets of stairs that were easily navigated...this was not the case. Our friend made it up one evening for dinner with a lot of stops for rest and decided not to attempt again (he has COPD) which meant he missed breakfast on the 3 mornings we were there. This needs to be clearer for people as we would not have booked had we known.
We stayed in a triple room which although small was okay however the fittings were old and dirty. I have added pictures of the shower/bath which nearly made me sick, black mould fell out when moved and the shower took a good 15 minutes to drain. It was that bad I walked to a salon to get my hair washed as no way could I use that shower past a couple of minutes for a wash.
I have no doubt the hotel was grand in its day but not anymore. Most of the staff have an attitude and I feel they think they are working in a 5 star hotel. The bar in the lobby opened for an hour or two in the afternoons and the rooftop area while it had beautiful views was disappointing especially the food.
Overall the hotel is old and jaded, worn stained carpets are everywhere and fittings/furniture need updated. The area is good and there were a few really lovely coffee shops/restaurants near it which we used a lot (we all had breakfast out after the issue with our friend) and there was a hop on bus very close to it.
My advice is to avoid. I have stayed in a wide range of luxury hotels to Premier Inns and never ever found this disgusting dirt in the bathroom and although all hotels show bits of wear and tear this was hard to comprehend especially in a 4 star rated hotel

Great located hotel
We chose this hotel for our 40th wedding anniversary for its location to the Santa Maria Maggiore and its views from the roof terrace. It’s not far, I would say approximately 5 minutes walk from the train terminal where all the buses side stop do its perfect for onward travel and travel to and from the airport. The rooms were clean and tidy albeit a little small. The maid service was excellent. Before we were due to stay I received a message from the hotel about transfers from the airport. We had already booked our transfer for 6 euros. Their transfer was 75 euros, I therefore declined but said we were looking forward to our stay. I did not receive a response. We asked reception for recommendation for an authentic Italian restaurant, the gentleman recommended one not too far away and we went there. Upon sitting down to eat we realised it was definitely not an authentic Italian trattoria. I cannot recall the name but there were quite odd things on the jab like pigs brains…and pigs ribs snd it was owned and run by a Croat. I therefore think that maybe the reception should maybe have a little more knowledge of the local restaurants as this would be an asset. Overall our stay was nice…I would recommend even though we didn’t even get a chocolate on our pillow for our special stay

Nice hotel
We spent 4 days at this hotel and couldn’t fault it, apart from the bed which was not very comfortable.
The hotel is a bit dated but still has a bit of grandeur, it is very clean and staff are very pleasant.
We booked a deluxe double with view of the church which was worth the extra cost, room was small but had everything we needed, nice bathroom and good shower.
Breakfast was good, great coffee and attentive staff.
The highlight was the rooftop bar, stunning views and fabulous cocktails.

Relaxing stay in a vibrant city
Very nice stay for Christmas shopping. The hotel is well located for exploring the city. To Termini (train station) just a few steps to reach all desired destinations by bus or metro. Since we are good on foot, we explore the destinations (Colosseum, Forum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, etc.... nightlife district Trastevere , the many shops in the city center. The hotel offers not only variety but also relaxation with its restaurant, the very good and varied breakfast with the fantastic roof terrace overlooking Santa Msris Maggiore. Always happy!
